Since 2012, NeuroCheck GmbH has been using 2D cameras series BAU-02xx and NCG-03xx (manufactured by Baumer Optronic) equipped with CCD sensors by the global market leader Sony, who are switching fully to CMOS technology. This means that further development and manufacture of CCD sensors was terminated thus heralding the end of the CCD era. Potential uses include machine error analysis and eye tracking applications.
Six new cameras in Baumer's LXT series combine 3rd generation Sony Pregius CMOS sensors with 10 GigE interface and feature resolutions from 0.5 to 7.1 MPixels. The new cameras offer frame rates of more than 1500 fps, pixel size of 4.5 or 9 µm, and a SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of 44 dB (pixel size 4.5 µm) to facilitate stable image evaluation.
A Dual Conversion Gain feature allows the flexibility to set the gain directly in the sensor. An integrated HDR function calculates the images with a dynamic range of over 82 dB (pixel size 4.5 µm), for image evaluation applications with both light and dark areas in a scene.
The cameras also feature output power up to 120 W (max. 48 V / 2.5 A) for direct control of illumination, IP65 and IP67 protection without an external housing, and meet the IEEE 1588 standard for precise time synchronization in Ethernet networks, via a Precision Time Protocol.
